It is a new year, but some things never change. The sun will rise in the east and set in the west. We’ll all die one day. And Dennis Prager will create completely false narratives to promote Donald Trump and his own grifter business ventures, like Prager U. 

Dennis Prager is very sad about the 2018 mid-term elections. While he sees Donald Trump’s narrow electoral college victory as a mandate from the people to govern like a lunatic, 2018 ushered in “Leftist” obstructionists who will unjustly undermine the Trump administration at every turn. For polemicists like Prager, elections only have consequences when your side wins.

2019 will be a dark year, Prager warns us. Why? Because now that the Democrats control the House, they will continue to really investigate Donald Trump. They will keep up this witchhunt, which has already convicted so many people close to the President. Prager decries this, not because these men were not guilty (they very much were). No, it is unfair that the government is punishing them for these crimes when they were only supposed to be looking at collusion!  It just isn’t fair!

The mob will be glad to hear we are going to shift from following the evidence to whatever crimes we can find to a strict investigate one thing at a time policy. “Well, since I showed up to investigate you for murder and all I found was evidence of money laundering and racketeering I guess I’ll just have to let you go.” Law and order, eh Dennis?

Prager lays out the evidence for his childish screed in one paragraph, attempting to show how rigged the system is against conservatives by liberals in government and the media. And every single piece of it is false. Let’s take a look:

There is nothing Trump or any member of his administration has done that is comparable to Hillary Clinton’s use of her own email server while U.S. secretary of state

Uh, other than President Trump continuing to use unsecured comms devices and his daughter using unauthorized email like Clinton. Also, this has been investigated and discussed at great length.

or her destroying tens of thousands of emails after they were subpoenaed by Congress, or foreign governments’ and corporations’ paying vast sums of money to Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state

Yeah, unless you count how Trump has lied about writing his son’s defense of the Russia meeting in Trump Tower, paid money to quiet women who would attest to his infidelities and lied about doing (repeatedly), his inauguration committee being accused of similar actions,  his charity operating as a slush fund, and his business practices, which continues to shuttle foreign governments to pay for services and occupation of Trump owned properties that he has not divested himself of. Other than that, there are hardly any comparable misdeeds. Again, Clinton was investigated for both of these things. No charges were brought by Trump’s own DOJ who could reopen the case at any moment if they felt the evidence warranted it. They have not because there is apparently nothing there.

Nor is there anything Trump or anyone in his administration has done compared to the Obama administration’s use of the IRS to suppress conservative nonprofits

Barack Obama had nothing to do with what the IRS did to a small number of conservative groups tax filings. Trump’s own DOJ did not find any top-down evidence for such policy. It was a local decision that has going through the justice system and been settled. Unlike, say, missing children and immigrant children’s deaths due to US border and immigration policy…

its selling of guns to Mexican drug cartels, at least one of which was later found at the scene where a Border Patrol officer was killed

Again, this was a local decision by a Federal agency (the Phoenix branch of the ATF) to use an established but controversial tactic known as gunwalking to catch illegal arms deals. It had nothing to do with Obama, was investigated thoroughly, and supervisors who approved the program were held accountable.

or the lies it told about the cause of the murder of a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Benghazi

You knew we were not getting through this without Benghazi!!!!1!!!111!! The number of times Trump has lied about foreign policy are almost too numerous to count. His denuclearization of North Korea? Trump’s disgusting pro-Putin display after the Helsinki meeting? Covering for the Saudis after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi? Not to mention the innumerable ways that he has attempted to lie about and impede an ongoing justice department investigation of Russian interference in our elections…

Yet any suggestion by Republicans that these activities be investigated is effectively shouted down by the Democrats and the media

Again, every single one of these things was investigated, at length, by Congress and the DOJ—for god’s sake, conservatives have controlled both for the last two years!

And let’s not talk about the real collision in 2016 — between the FBI, the State Department, the Clinton campaign, and the Obama White House, using material sourced in part from the Russian government — to undermine the Republican candidate for president and his presidency.

This is the opposite of what the FBI, State, CIA, and DOJ says happened. This is pure conspiracy theory nonsense.

Dennis Prager is a crackpot conspiracy peddler. His “history” lessons online are just as false and half-assed as this opinion piece. Nearly every full-throated defense of the Trump administration rests on similarly shaky ground, though few lie as frequently and as flagrantly as Prager does. He is truly a master at bald-faced lying.
