Stumbled on your blog — courageous writing raising important questions about Lima, my hometown as well. Mr. McCoy was my elementary school principal at Westwood. I will never forget him and the enlightenment he brought us all. Did you go to Westwood?

Jeremy,
Thank you for writing. I think you’re absolutely right about nearly everything I’ve read. I wish more people were reading and listening.

Thank you, Victoria. I’m always humbled that anyone is reading at all.
When I feel particularly gloomy about our discourse and social environment I think about this excerpt from a sermon the abolitionist Theodore Parker gave in 1853:
“I do not pretend to understand the moral universe. The arc is a long one. My eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by experience of sight. I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends toward justice.”
By simply participating in these conversations we nudge the arc ever so gently down that path.
